Naxalbari, 21st March: Based on the post-mortem report, a woman has been arrested in connection with the recovery of the dead body of a newborn from a sack abandoned in the roadside bushes. The tragic incident surfaced last Friday from the Prem Nagar area of Station Para, Naxalbari. Police recovered the body and sent it to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
Subsequently, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling District Police, Manoranjan Ghosh said that the postmortem report revealed that the newborn had injury marks on his head. Based on this, a complaint was lodged at the police station. After this, the mother of the newborn has been arrested by the police.
Today the woman was produced in the Siliguri Divisional court. The Naxalbari police will investigate the entire incident after taking the accused into police custody.
