Siliguri, 21st September: Matigara police station’s plainclothes personnel and officers from Uttorayon Outpost jointly conducted a special late-night operation outside a prominent mall under Matigara police station limits in Siliguri.
During the operation, police personnel were seen patrolling the mall premises and surrounding areas with batons. The move comes amid reports of incidents of arguments and physical altercations involving people allegedly leaving pubs and bars in an intoxicated state late at night.
Videos allegedly showing indecent acts on the road have also recently surfaced on social media. In response, police have increased surveillance in and around the mall.
Police are also monitoring pubs and bars operating beyond the permitted hours and keeping an eye on people leaving the establishments. Those found unnecessarily roaming on the roads late at night are being warned of possible action.
According to police sources, the campaign will continue in the coming days. Police officials have stated that strict action will be taken against pubs and bars violating prescribed operating hours and those causing disturbances in public places late at night.
