Siliguri, 21st September: The newly opened Road Over Bridge (ROB) section connecting Mallaguri and Darjeeling More was inspected by senior traffic police officials on Sunday night ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, with the aim of reducing traffic congestion.
DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, ACP (Traffic) Subir Dutta, and other police officials were present during the inspection.
The police officials walked through the entire stretch to assess its infrastructure and safety arrangements. The inspection found that some sections of the road lacked adequate lighting at night. Instructions were issued to arrange sufficient lighting at the earliest to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles during nighttime.
Police sources said discussions have also been held with the National Highways Authority regarding the installation of necessary signboards, directional signage and traffic signals to regulate vehicular movement.
