Siliguri, 10th February: Unique Welfare Society, a voluntary organization, arranged meals for the needy at a cost of only 2 rupees.
Organization head Rakesh Dutta said that meals for 150 people were prepared today. More such initiatives will be taken in the coming days. Also, the food menu will keep varying from time to time, he further added.
Dutta said that the initiative was successful due to the cooperation of the citizens. They hope to do more social work in the coming days.
There is also a sindhi society which distributes food for Rs 5/- only every week.
