Siliguri, 20th January: A ‘Run for Martyrs’ event is likely to be held on January 23 under the joint initiative of Unique Foundation Team and Deshbandhu Sporting Union club.
During a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists Club, the voluntary organization member Sushanta Pal stated that the run will commence from Sukna and conclude at Deshbandhu Sporting Union Club. All varying from the age of 15 can participate in the said event.
On behalf of the Deshbandhu Sporting Union club, Anup Bose said that such an initiative has been taken to celebrate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and to pay homage to the heroic martyrs. The families of the martyrs will also be present at the event.
Reportedly, Minister Goutam Deb will inaugurate the event and Vir Chakra awardee Capt. Ganendra Kumar Rai will be present as the chief guest. The first 10 contestants from the women’s and men’s categories will be felicitated with medals and trophies. There will also be cash prizes for the winners.
