Two killed in road accident on Siliguri-Jalpaiguri NH in Rajganj; MLA visits grieving families

Rajganj, 17th December: A tragic road accident on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway near Radharbhari has resulted in the death of two young men. The deceased have been identified as Rishikesh Barman and Mrinmoy Barman from Ashram Para, Fatapukur in Rajganj. On Tuesday, MLA Khageswar Roy visited the bereaved families to offer condolences.


The incident occurred on Monday night when three men were returning home on a motorcycle after work. While traveling near Radharbari on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway, their bike collided with a vehicle. The crash left the three youths severely injured.

The victims were rushed to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared Rishikesh and Mrinmoy dead upon arrival. Lakhan Barman, who also sustained injuries, is currently undergoing treatment and is in critical condition.


Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy visited the families of the deceased on Tuesday morning. He expressed his condolences and reassured them of his support. The MLA was accompanied by other local leaders, including Arindam Banerjee, the Rajganj Block President of the Trinamool Congress, and Papiya Sarkar, the Pradhan of the Panikauri Gram Panchayat, who also extended their sympathies.

Speaking to the media, MLA Roy described the incident as ‘extremely tragic’ and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. He also assured support to the family of the injured youth, Lakhan Barman.
