Siliguri, 15th November: Two youths were arrested in Siliguri with banned cough syrup. The duo has been identified as Naveen Roy and Arjun Prasad, residents of the Pradhan Nagar police station area.
It has been learned that the police received a tip-off regarding the peddlers who were planning to smuggle the illegal narcotics in the area adjacent to Siliguri Junction. Upon receiving this news, the Pradhan Nagar police conducted an operation and nabbed them. 100 bottles of cough syrup were recovered from their possession.
According to police sources, the market value of the recovered cough syrup is Rs 50,000. Police also confiscated a scooter presumably being used for smuggling purposes. The arrested were sent to the court today.
