Siliguri, 01st October: Two AC rocket buses and two CNG buses were inaugurated today in Siliguri, an initiative by the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC).
The Siliguri-Kolkata-bound AC Rocket Bus and the Siliguri-Coochbehar-bound CNG buses were officially launched at the Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus on Tuesday, ahead of Durga Puja. The event saw the presence of NBSTC Chairman Partha Pratim Roy, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, and other officials.
NBSTC introduced the CNG buses to promote eco-friendly transportation and reduce pollution. More CNG buses are expected to be launched soon.
In addition to the bus service inauguration, bus drivers, assistant drivers, and technicians who have performed exceptionally well were awarded ₹10,000 in cash and certificates.
