Siliguri, 18th September: A newlywed woman from Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur was injured in a tragic incident while she was staying at a homestay in Sittong, Kurseong, during her honeymoon. Visuals of the incident have since surfaced on social media.
According to information, the incident took place on the evening of September 13 while a barbecue was being prepared at the homestay. Sameer Das and his wife Nikita Das were sitting near the barbecue when someone allegedly poured a liquid substance into the fire. The flames suddenly caught Nikita, leaving her injured.
Sameer and others immediately tried to extinguish the fire and rescue her. She was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment and was later admitted to a private hospital in Siliguri, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Nikita’s uncle, Tapas Das, has alleged that she remained injured on the homestay’s veranda for nearly an hour after suffering burns and did not receive proper medical attention during that period.
The family has lodged a complaint with the police. The police are investigating the matter.
