Siliguri, 07th August: A theft incident at a hotel in the Siliguri Junction area has created a stir after a thief allegedly entered the hotel through a gap above the shutter without breaking it and fled with around ₹30,000 cash from the cash box.
According to information, the hotel owner had closed the hotel on Thursday night and returned home. When he opened the hotel on Friday morning, he found items inside scattered. He then checked the CCTV footage installed at the hotel, where a youth was seen entering through the empty space above the shutter and committing the theft.
Following the incident, local shopkeepers and businessmen in the Junction area started searching for the suspected thief. During the search, two youths were detained on suspicion and later handed over to Pradhan Nagar Police Station.
The hotel owner said the thief escaped with around ₹30,000 from the cash box. He has requested police to conduct a fair investigation, recover the stolen money and take strict action against those involved.
Meanwhile, Pradhan Nagar Police are questioning the two detained youths and investigating whether any other persons were involved in the theft.
