Siliguri, 13th September: Ganesh Puja is just around the corner, and markets across Siliguri have begun witnessing increased festive activity, with shoppers visiting various markets since Sunday morning to purchase Ganesh idols and puja essentials.
A wide variety of Ganesh idols, ranging from small to large sizes, are being displayed at shops and stalls across the city.
The festive atmosphere is also visible at sweet shops, where special sweets have been prepared for the occasion. Modaks and large-sized laddus are among the popular items being prepared for the festival.
Traders said business picked up gradually from Sunday morning and expressed hope that the number of shoppers would increase as the day progresses. They are expecting good sales of Ganesh idols, puja essentials and festive sweets.
However, idol sellers remain concerned about the possibility of rain, which they fear could discourage people from visiting the markets. Despite the concern, traders remain hopeful of strong sales in the final day ahead of Ganesh Puja.
With shoppers making their festive purchases and traders preparing for increased demand, markets across Siliguri are gradually coming alive ahead of the festival.
