Siliguri, 13th September: Seth Srilal Market Merchant Association organised a special fire safety awareness programme ‘Agni-Safe’ in Siliguri, in the wake of recent fire incidents across West Bengal and the long-standing concerns of traders regarding fire safety in market areas.
West Bengal Tourism Minister Shankar Ghosh and BJP leader Rabindranath Banerjee attended the programme. Discussions were held on raising fire safety awareness among traders, preventing fire incidents and ensuring prompt action during emergencies.
During the programme, traders were urged to follow fire safety regulations and remain cautious about electrical connections, wiring and the use of electrical equipment in shops and other business establishments. The importance of proper use of fire extinguishers and keeping emergency exits clear was also highlighted.
Traders were further advised to remain calm and take immediate action in the event of a fire. The initiative emphasised collective efforts among traders to prevent fire incidents and ensure the safety of both business owners and the general public.
The programme also focused on building awareness about the steps that should be taken to quickly control a fire and respond effectively during emergencies.
