Siliguri man defrauded of Rs 11 Lakh in copper plate scam; accused arrested from Rajasthan

Siliguri, 04th May: A man from Siliguri fell victim to a fraud amounting to Rs 11 lakh after ordering copper plates from another state. The perpetrator has been apprehended in connection with the incident.


According to reports, Tanmay Khemka, a resident of Khudiram Colony in Siliguri, transferred approximately Rs 11 lakh to Saurabh Daruka, a resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan, in February, in exchange for copper plates. However, Daruka failed to deliver the promised goods. Subsequently, Khemka filed a complaint at the Bhakti Nagar police station.

Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of Saurabh Daruka by the Bhakti Nagar police team in Rajasthan. Daruka was then brought before a court in Jaipur before being transported to Siliguri on transit remand, on Saturday. Currently, the police are engaged in further investigation.
