Siliguri, 25th September: The Siliguri Bazar Dabgram Fulbari E-Rickshaw Toto Workers’ Association approached the administration over several issues related to toto movement in Siliguri city and adjoining areas. On Friday, members of the association submitted a memorandum to the Siliguri SDO.
According to the association, the initiative was taken to bring various problems faced by toto drivers and other issues concerning the organisation to the administration’s attention. The association also sought necessary assistance and permission from the SDO.
Association members said the installation of route numbers on several totos has helped resolve many of the problems. However, they alleged that some toto drivers are still leaving their designated routes and entering other routes. The association has requested the administration to monitor the issue.
The memorandum also raised the issue of administrative action against totos without registration numbers. The association questioned how unregistered totos are allegedly being sold by some showrooms despite administrative action being taken against such vehicles and court directives concerning them.
The association has demanded a prompt investigation into the matter and action against showrooms allegedly involved in the sale of unregistered totos.
