Siliguri, 21st March: In a recent incident, a driver absconded with a rented e-rickshaw (toto), prompting an investigation by local authorities in the Bagrakote area. The arrested driver has been identified as Amjad Ansari. Notably, the accused was operating the e-rickshaw for a period of 15 days.
According to reports, on March 15th, Amjad Ansari suddenly disappeared with the rented toto, leaving the owner concerned. Despite extensive efforts to locate both the driver and the vehicle, they remained untraceable, leading the owner to file a written complaint of theft at the Siliguri police station on March 17th.
Following the filing of the complaint, Siliguri police launched an investigation into the matter and Amjad Ansari was arrested from Ambari on Wednesday night. Additionally, the stolen toto was successfully recovered by the police during the course of their investigation. On Thursday, the accused, Amjad Ansari, has been produced in Siliguri court in connection to the case.
