Siliguri, 16th June: In a major development in a scholarship scam case, Rajasthan Police, with assistance from Matigara Police, arrested Babul Haque, a resident of Chopra, for allegedly obtaining scholarship funds through the use of forged documents on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a Siliguri court, where Rajasthan Police sought transit remand for detailed interrogation. Considering the seriousness of the case, the court granted four days of transit remand and allowed Rajasthan Police to take the accused to Rajasthan for further investigation.
According to police sources, investigators are gathering crucial information regarding the scholarship application process, the use of bank accounts, and the possible involvement of other individuals in the alleged scam.
Police believe the investigation could lead to further significant revelations. The probe into the case is currently underway.
