Rotary Club of Darjeeling distributed 40 stretchers to needy community group

Darjeeling 05th September: Rotary Club of Darjeeling today distributed stretchers to 40 needy samaj (community groups) of Darjeeling hills. Project Chairman Mukesh Adhupia said that the Rotary Club, in their 4th phase of medical stretcher distribution, has distributed 90 medical stretchers, 2 wheelchairs and several aids in two years. The initiative was taken, keeping in mind the problems faced while taking patients to the hospital, especially from rural areas where vehicles cannot reach. 


Likewise, Sunirmal Chakravarti, president, the Rotary Club of Darjeeling said that the Rotary Club has decided to provide stretchers in remote areas. He added that stretchers were also provided to carry the dead bodies during the Covid-19 period on behalf of the club.


As per the information, Hans Rajkumar Chhabaria, Sushila Raheja and Muscatel Hotels and Resorts extended their support for the initiative. Kapil Hinduja, managing director of Muscatel Hotels and Resorts, said that they will continue to provide such support in the future as well. 

Furthermore, the Rotary Club of Darjeeling will also be organizing free diabetes screening, blood pressure camps in the hills. In August alone, more than 700 patients were screened for blood pressure and diabetes.
