Rajganj Food Poisoning Case Update: Food Safety and Health Department collect samples

Rajganj, 30th December: On Tuesday 21-year-old Tanushree Roy died while four of her family members fell sick due to food poisoning at Nawapara of Sahudangi in Rajganj block. Following the tragic incident, the Health Department and state Food Safety Office have initiated an investigation into the matter.


On Thursday, Rajganj BMOH Dr Shubhdeep Sarkar and Jalpaiguri Food Safety Officer Rajendra Kumar Rai interacted closely with the family and collected food samples.

According to the Health Department, five members of the family fell ill after having their meal on Sunday. The sample collected will be sent to Kolkata for further investigation.


Speaking on the issue, Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum President Amit Sarkar said that a member of the family died after consuming the food while four people are unwell. He said that as soon as he got information about the incident, the CMOH of Jalpaiguri was informed.
