Siliguri, 02nd August: In Siliguri, a distressing incident unfolded in the Lower Bhanu Nagar area of Ward No. 43, where a domestic help was allegedly subjected to brutal beating by relatives of a police officer. The incident came to light when the victim woman filed a written complaint at Bhakti Nagar police station.
According to reports, the woman had been employed at the residence of a Siliguri Metropolitan Police officer for several years. It is alleged that on Tuesday, the officer’s mother-in-law and brother-in-law violently assaulted her. In response to the complaint, the police detained the officer’s brother-in-law, identified as Bapi, for his involvement in the assault.
The victim narrated her ordeal, stating that she had been faithfully performing household chores for the police officer’s family when suddenly the officer’s wife made false accusations against her. Following this, Bapi unleashed a brutal attack, using his belt to mercilessly beat her. The assault continued as Bapi chased her onto the road, where he openly thrashed her in public view. In the aftermath of the incident, the victim, her family, and neighbors gathered outside Bhaktinagar police station to demand justice for the heinous act. The woman is seeking justice for the cruelty inflicted upon her.
On the other hand, the police officer’s wife refuted the allegations, claiming that the accusations against her brother and mother are false. She asserted that the working woman had committed theft in their house, and in response, she had only slapped the woman a few times. The officer’s wife believes that the woman has falsely accused her brother and mother with the malicious intent of tarnishing her husband’s reputation. The police are now conducting a thorough investigation to determine the truth behind the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
