People allegedly hiring line-waiters to sit in COVID-19 vaccine queues outside NBMCH

Siliguri, 13th August: Amid the allegations surfaced at the vaccination centre of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital regarding irregularities concerning vaccination, hundreds of people are apparently being hired to wait in long COVID-19 vaccination queues outside the centre.

Allegedly, the line standers are waiting in queues in exchange for cash amounting from Rs 200 to Rs 400. The person hiring could be spotted arriving just in time for their turn and replacing the spot with the line standers. Although hundreds of people stood in line on Friday, only 200 people were vaccinated.

Dr Sandeep Sengupta, dean of NBMCH, said he has not received any verbal or written complaint yet. Appropriate action will be taken only after investigation. Black marketing will not be allowed concerning vaccination.
