One arrested in connection with two snatching cases in Siliguri, investigation underway

Siliguri, 28th April: Police have made a breakthrough in two snatching incidents reported in Siliguri, with one accused being arrested. The operation was carried out by plainclothes personnel of Siliguri Police Station.

The arrested accused has been identified as Birju Gwala, a resident of Fatapukur. According to police, the incidents involving snatching from women took place in different parts of the city on the same day, prompting an intensive search for those involved.

During a night patrol near Jalpai More, police detained a suspicious youth. On questioning, inconsistencies in his statements led to his detention. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to his involvement in the cases.

Investigations suggest that the accused operated along with other associates. A case has been registered, and he has been produced before Siliguri Court. Police have sought remand for further interrogation and are working to trace other members of the group.
