North Bengal Stage Performers Association celebrated World Environment Day in Siliguri

Siliguri, 05th June: On the auspicious occasion of World Environment Day, various organizations, on Friday, planted trees to promote greenery. However, the North Bengal Stage Performers Association, with the assistance of forest Officer Sanjay Dutta, celebrated the day in a unique way. The organization members distributed ration among 65 athletes and several musicians who are living under severe crisis due to the prolonged lockdown period.


           

Former Opposition leader of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) Ranjan Sarkar, Secretary of Siliguri Journalists Club Angshuman Chakraborty and renowned former player Prakash Kumar Haldar and many other dignitaries were present during the programme.


Organization Secretary Deep Chattopadhyay stated that the city’s musicians are facing problems as they do not have proper identity cards and urged the state government to resolve the issue soon.

World Environment Day is celebrated on 5 June every year and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
