Siliguri, 23rd January: To mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Ashok Bhattacharya and Shankar Malakar paid tribute to the Indian freedom fighter.
Just a day before the Netaji’s birth anniversary, the statue of Subhash Chandra Bose was renovated in Ward No. 16 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation.. After the renovation, the statue was garlanded today and tribute was paid to him.
Locals along with Siliguri MLA Ashok Bhattacharya, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Shankar Malakar, Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA) Vice Chairman Nantu Pal, Ward No. 16 Co-ordinator Sujoy Ghatak were present during the event. Ghatak demanded the Centre to declare January 23 as Patriotic Day to commemorate the brave heart.
