Siliguri, 11th May: A team from the Cybercrime Department of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police has arrested a member of a gang who duped people on the pretext of installing mobile towers. The accused Kundan Mahato has been arrested from Asansol and brought to Siliguri.
According to the information, a woman from Matigara had filed a complaint at Siliguri Cyber Station regarding being duped of Rs 2 lakh on pretext of getting a telecom tower installed on her property.
Following the complaint, the team of the cybercrime department started an investigation and soon learnt about Kundan Mahato and arrested him from Asansol. It is being assumed that Mahato is the head of the gang and the mastermind behind the crime. The accused will be produced in court, on Tuesday.
