Siliguri, 20th November: Fierce fire broke out in the Khudiram Colony of Ward No. 18 of Siliguri on Saturday evening. The sky was completely covered with smoke and the houses near it were engulfed in the dreadful blaze completely burning into ashes.
Meanwhile, Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh took stock of the fire-damaged area this morning and interacted with the affected families. He assured to stand with the victims without the involvement of politics and blame gaming anyone.
It is to be noted that the fire intensified after the gas cylinders kept in the houses exploded one after the other. The locals first started extinguishing the conflagration by carrying water from their houses. At the same time, after getting the information about the fire, 8 fire engines reached the spot and were brought under control after about four hours of effort.
