Rajganj, 13th October: The distribution of West Bengal government’s Durga Puja grant cheques began in the Bhorer Alo Police Station area of Rajganj, with MLA Dinesh Sarkar handing over cheques to 47 Puja committees in the first phase on Monday night.
Around 77 Durga Puja committees operate in the Bhorer Alo Police Station area. Of the 47 committees that received cheques in the first phase, 14 are new Puja committees. The remaining committees will receive their grant cheques in due course. Cheques were also distributed to Puja committees under the Rajganj Police Station area on the same day.
Rajganj Panchayat Samiti Sabhapati Monika Adhikari, Saha-Sabhapati Nitai Mondal, Bhorer Alo Police Station OC Sudip Kumar Dutta, social worker Arjun Mondal, and the Pradhan and Upa-Pradhan of Binnaguri Gram Panchayat were among those present at the programme, along with other dignitaries.
The state government’s financial assistance is expected to provide relief to Puja organisers, particularly smaller committees, and help them manage the arrangements for the festivities.
Meanwhile, an appeal was made to maintain law and order and follow all regulations during the festive days.
