Siliguri, 31st August: Police arrested a man from Sikkim after allegedly recovering brown sugar worth lakhs of rupees from a lodge room near Siliguri Junction. The arrested accused has been identified as 40-year-old Yuvraj Chhetri, a resident of Gangtok, Sikkim. He is reportedly a driver by profession.
According to police sources, Yuvraj Chhetri had arrived in Siliguri from Sikkim on Sunday and checked into the lodge near Siliguri Junction as a passenger. On Monday afternoon, acting on confidential information, a plainclothes police team led by Pradhan Nagar Police Station IC BD Sarkar conducted a raid at the lodge room.
During the search, police allegedly recovered a packet of brown sugar from Yuvraj Chhetri. The seized substance is reportedly valued at lakhs of rupees.
