BJP files police complaint over alleged illegal e-rickshaw registration and financial fraud using party flags in Siliguri

Siliguri, 31st August: The BJP’s Siliguri Organisational District’s Mandal 7 has lodged a police complaint alleging illegal e-rickshaw (toto) registration and financial fraud in the Pipeline area of Siliguri using the party’s name and flags.

According to the complaint, some individuals were allegedly using the BJP’s name and flags to illegally register totos and collect money from toto drivers. The BJP also alleged that the individuals were carrying out the alleged fraud by using fake identities.

The BJP has clarified that there is no party-authorised toto union or workers’ organisation in the area and that the party has not permitted any such activities. The party alleged that its name and symbol were being misused to mislead people and damage its image.

On Monday, members of the BJP’s Siliguri organisational district’s Mandal 7 Committee approached Ashighar Outpost and lodged a complaint over the matter.

BJP leaders alleged that the individuals were carrying out the activities after putting up party flags and banners at the location. They further claimed that when BJP leaders reached the spot, the individuals allegedly confronted them, following which they approached the police.

Following the complaint, the party flags and banners were removed from the location. When media persons reached the spot, the alleged individuals reportedly fled. Those who were filling up forms at the location were questioned, but reportedly failed to provide any clear information regarding the process.
