Malda, 08th February: A man allegedly smashed a farmer’s head with a hammer during a Salishi Sabha in Surmani area of Alal Gram Panchayat under Gazole police station.
The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Nurul Islam while the accused as Noor Islam. According to sources, on Friday, a dispute broke out between the duo over a piece of land. To settle the matter, a Salishi Sabha was held on Friday night.
It has been alleged that during the meeting, Noor Islam along with some people attacked Nurul Islam and smashed his head with a hammer, due to which Nurul was seriously injured. After the incident, the injured was admitted to the Malda Medical College-Hospital. Meanwhile, all the accused fled away from the scene and are absconding since the incident. Gazole police are investigating into the matter.
