Rajganj, 04th December: In a significant crackdown, Rajganj police foiled an attempt to smuggle cattle cleverly hidden with pitch drums and arrested a lorry driver in connection with the case. The arrested individual, identified as Sahidul Islam, hails from Assam.
As per reports, acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a lorry on Wednesday morning near Bandhunagar along the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway. During a thorough search, 15 cows were discovered hidden inside the vehicle, one of which was found dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cattle were being transported from Bihar to Assam. The Rajganj police have launched a detailed investigation to uncover further details about the trafficking operation.
