Siliguri, 20th May: Based on a tip-off, the NJP police launched an operation in the Tinbatti More area and recovered a huge cache of liquor worth lakhs of rupees. A pick-up van was also detained in the incident. However, the driver fled away from the scene upon sighting the police officials.
According to police sources, an ‘On Emergency Duty’ sticker had been pasted on the pick-up van and two different number plates were affixed on the front and back of the vehicle.
Police have launched an investigation into the whole incident.
