Siliguri, 26th August: An exciting development is on the horizon for wildlife enthusiasts as Bengal Safari Park in Siliguri prepares to resonate with the majestic roar of lions. In a move that promises to bring the regal creatures closer to the public, the park is gearing up to introduce lions to its already captivating collection of animals. This forthcoming addition means that visitors will no longer need to venture to the zoo to witness the awe-inspiring presence of lions; the lion’s roar will grace the Bengal Safari Park in December.
Beyond the captivating lions, visitors to Bengal Safari Park will have the opportunity to marvel at an array of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, and black panthers. This expansion of the park’s residents aims to create an even more immersive and diverse experience for tourists and animal enthusiasts.
State Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick shared this exciting news during his recent visit to Bengal Safari Park. He expressed his delight at the upcoming introduction of lions and emphasized the broader vision of enhancing the park’s offerings.
The park’s positive momentum is further accentuated by recent events, including the birth of three cubs to the Royal Bengal Tiger Rica. These cubs, born on August 19, are reported to be in good health. However, due to infection concerns, direct access to the cubs has been restricted. Dedicated surveillance through CCTV cameras by Bengal Safari officials and veterinarians is ensuring the well-being of both mother and cubs.
In a separate occurrence, the white Royal Bengal tiger Kika also gave birth to two cubs, although both cubs tragically did not survive. One cub’s demise occurred due to a mishap involving another cub, while the second succumbed to a lung infection. Forest Minister Mallick highlighted the diligent monitoring of Rica’s offspring by Bengal Safari Park officials to prevent a repeat of such unfortunate incidents.
