Labours deprived of work due to no Abir production in Rajganj

Rajganj, 09th March: As the festival of colours Holi is around the corner, speculations are being raised if the administration will allow the use of colours this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The management of an abir factory in Fulbari has decided not to produce abir this year in the wake of the losses they suffered last year due to low sales. The raw materials that are used to make abir are being destroyed. Meanwhile, the workers have also been out of work and are facing a crisis of livelihood due to this change.

Jeevan Mandal, an abir factory manager in the Champa Gach area enclosing the Fulbari border, said that the production of abir starts at least two months before Holi. However this year, the owners have decided not to produce any abir because of the losses they incurred last year due to very low sales during the festival.
