Kharibari, 17th December: An ASI of Kharibari police station was attacked while attempting to shut down an illegal liquor shop in the Dangu Jote area near the Bengal-Bihar border.
According to reports, the Kharibari police conducted a drive against illegal liquor activities in the Dangu Jote area on Monday. During the operation, an individual, allegedly intoxicated, got into a scuffle with the police, leading to an attack on the ASI.
The injured officer is currently undergoing treatment at Kharibari Rural Hospital. Following the incident, the police arrested one person, identified as Sunil Mahato.
Sources revealed that around 15-20 individuals involved in the incident have fled and remain absconding. The arrested individual was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court on Tuesday.
The police are actively investigating the entire incident.
