Kharibari, 20th March: The Kharibari Block Chhatra Parishad Committee staged a gherao of Kharibari police station on Thursday, presenting a memorandum with seven demands.
Before submitting the memorandum, the members took out a rally from the party office, marching through the market area. Their demands included resolving traffic congestion from Bhalukgara to Kharibari Bazar, stopping the illegal liquor trade, curbing prostitution in hotels and restaurants, preventing illegal sand theft from rivers, taking strict action against drug dealers, and ensuring the safety of school and college students.
State Chhatra Parishad Saha Sabhapati Shivankar Sarkar was present at the protest. He cautioned that if these issues are not addressed, a larger movement will be launched in the coming days.
