Jalpaiguri youth goes missing in Teesta River

Jalpaiguri, 22nd August: 23-year-old Saddam Hussein, resident of Dangapara under Jalpaiguri Paharpur Gram Panchayat, got swept away in the Teesta River while he was collecting driftwoods.


As per the report, Saddam went near the riverbank yesterday morning to collect driftwoods. When he did not return home even after sunset, his family members started looking for him.

The family members along with locals headed to the river in search for Saddam. Even after hours of searching, the youth could not be found. Saddam’s family members pleaded the administration to help them find their son.


Jalpaiguri Kotwali police reached the spot this morning. Civil defence personnel have been deployed in the area to search for the missing Saddam.
