Rajganj, 26th May: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Jalpaiguri district Jayanta Roy, on Thursday, visited the Belakoba railway station to take stock of several train stops and issues raised by the local people.
Apart from inspecting the station, he also discussed several demands raised by the Belakoba Vyavasaya Committee. The MP stated that the railway station was earlier a stop for Kanchanjunga Express, Teesta Torsa Bamanhat and Assam Passenger Train. He maintained that most of the trains do not stop at the station and assured to talk to the Railway Ministry in this regard.
“The local people have also demanded repairment of dilapidated road connecting the railway station, arrangement of drinking water, beautification of flyover and Fatapukur. The state government needs to agree on those issues. If the state government cooperates, we will try to solve them immediately,” the MP added.
