Jalpaiguri AIMSS stages a demonstration at Kotwali Police station, demands the closure of liquor shops

Jalpaiguri, 12th May: The All India Mahila Samskritik Sanghatan (AIMSS), on Tuesday, staged a protest outside Jalpaiguri Kotwali Police station demanding the government to close liquor shops amid the lockdown period.


The protestors criticized the reopening of liquor outlets during such a crisis and alleged that the common people are being sick after consuming alcohol. In this situation, the protesters further demanded that the government should immediately shut down the liquor shops and instead make arrangements to deliver medicines at people’s doorstep. Apart from this, they also urged the administration to initiate the process of bringing the stranded laborers back to the state.

Shila Bose, Secretary of the Jalpaiguri AIMSS, stated that a memorandum has also been submitted in this regard. Shefali Sardar, Banani Mitra, Sarmistha Dutta Chowdhury, and many others were present during the programme.
