Siliguri, 22nd October: A Rail Jan Samvad programme was organised at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station to hear passengers’ grievances and address their concerns. Railway officials interacted directly with passengers and listened to complaints regarding various facilities and services at the station.
ADRM Ajay Singh, along with RPF personnel, the station manager and other railway officials, was present during the programme.
Passengers raised concerns over station cleanliness, the availability of drinking water and problems related to ticket booking. They alleged that some agents were changing passengers’ names or other details on tickets and transferring them to other travellers in exchange for additional money.
Passengers also complained about luggage being placed near train gates, obstructing passage and making movement difficult. They pointed out that such obstructions could create serious problems during emergencies.
Concerns were also raised over alleged anti-social activities and the consumption of intoxicating substances outside the station and on the railway bridge, which reportedly cause inconvenience to passengers.
Railway officials listened to the complaints and assured passengers that the issues would be addressed within a stipulated timeframe.
ADRM Ajay Singh said the programme was organised to hear passengers’ concerns and facilitate their resolution. He acknowledged the complaints regarding ticket booking and cleanliness and assured that steps would be taken to resolve them at the earliest.
