INTTUC stages gherao of PF Office in Siliguri, raises concerns of tea garden workers

Siliguri, 05th May: Raising concerns over issues related to the provident fund of tea garden workers, members of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC) gheraoed the Regional PF Office in the Pradhan Nagar area of Siliguri on Monday. A protest meeting was also held in front of the office.


State Law and Labor Minister Malay Ghatak, Rajya Sabha MP and INTTUC State President Ritabrata Banerjee, Darjeeling District INTTUC President Nirjal Dey, and other leaders were present. They alleged that the provident fund of tea garden workers has not been deposited regularly for a long time, resulting in delays in receiving their rightful dues.

Minister Malay Ghatak stated that the state government is very concerned about the fair dues of tea garden workers. He added that provident fund is the future savings of workers, and no negligence in this matter will be tolerated.


INTTUC President Ritabrata Banerjee stated that the central government has failed completely in managing workers’ provident fund. He added that the protest was a step forward in the fight to protect the rights of the workers.
