IMD issues weather warning, MP Raju Bista urges all to remain prepared

Heavy rainfall is set to lash parts of northeast and adjoining areas starting Monday, September 21. In view of the forecasted conditions, a red alert has been issued across Sub-Himalayan Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal and neighbouring state Sikkim.

In this context, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista spoke to the chiefs of the National Disaster Response Force. Reportedly, a unit of the NDRF personnel posted in Siliguri has already been sent to Kalimpong and another is set to be deployed at a moment’s notice.

“I am requesting you all to remain prepared, just to be on the safe side,” Bista wrote on social media. He further urged the people to help one another, especially the elderly, disabled, and those who are unwell.
