Rajganj, 12th October: Gold and silver ornaments were stolen after miscreants allegedly broke the lock of a Kali temple inside a family’s house in Bhutki, Rajganj, triggering concern among local residents. In a separate incident two days earlier, around ₹12,000 worth of fuel was allegedly stolen from a parked goods vehicle, raising concerns over consecutive thefts in the area.
Family member Liton Pal said he discovered the temple gate’s lock broken when he went out for a morning walk at around 6:30 AM on Monday. Upon entering the temple, he found that the gold eyes and gold bindi of Goddess Kali, along with silver hand ornaments, bangles and a kharga, were missing. Gold earrings and a necklace belonging to the Radha-Krishna idols were also reportedly stolen.
Liton Pal further alleged that one CCTV camera installed at the house had been damaged, while another had been covered with a sock. However, footage from a third camera reportedly captured a person moving around with their face covered. He said the footage would be handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, around ₹12,000 worth of fuel was allegedly stolen from a large goods vehicle parked beside the house two nights earlier. The consecutive thefts have caused concern among residents.
Following the incident, police from Rajganj Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation.
