Siliguri, 27th September: The Fuleswari Railway Gate in Siliguri has been closed, with traffic movement through the route halted on Saturday night. Following the closure, commuters have been left with the water- and mudlogged Fuleswari underpass as the only available route.
Local residents had long relied on the road through the railway crossing for their daily commute. However, with the railway authorities permanently closing the railway gate, the route is no longer accessible to the public.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made for commuters to use the Fuleshwari underpass as an alternative route. As a result, residents will now have to depend on the underpass for their daily travel.
The development has raised fresh concerns over the dilapidated condition of the underpass, which could cause inconvenience for commuters.
