Jalpaiguri, 12th September: Four students have been detained by Kotwali Police in connection with the alleged assault of the headmaster of Jalpaiguri District School. One student was detained by police on Friday, while three more students allegedly involved in the incident were detained on Saturday.
According to police sources, all four detained students will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The accused students have also reportedly been issued transfer certificates (TCs) from the school.
The incident occurred on Teachers’ Day, when a tense situation reportedly developed between the headmaster and students at Jalpaiguri District School. The situation allegedly escalated, following which the headmaster was assaulted.
On Friday, School Education Minister Dipak Barman visited Jalpaiguri District School and held meetings with the school managing committee, teachers and headmasters of different schools. The minister also directed the authorities to identify the students involved in the incident and issue them TCs.
Following the minister’s directive, the four accused students have reportedly been issued transfer certificates.
