Siliguri, 23rd February: An elderly woman lost her life after being hit by a four-wheeler car at Tinbatti More under NJP police station. The deceased has been identified as Khushi Haldar.
According to local sources, Khushi Haldar was crossing the road this afternoon, during which, a car lost control and hit her, killing her on the spot. The vehicle also rammed into two Totos nearby and fled away.
NJP police reached the spot after receiving the news. The body was recovered and sent to North Bengal Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Later, the police detained the vehicle from the Fulbari area and arrested the driver.
Meanwhile, after the incident, the locals raised questions regarding the traffic system at Tinbatti More. Councilor Tapas Chatterjee of Ward No. 32 reached the spot after receiving the news and took stock of the situation.
