Siliguri, 24th May: An elderly resident, identified as 63-year-old MD Taslim from Swami Nagar Colony under Ward No. 7 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC), has been arrested by the Women Police Station on charges of molestation.
Reportedly, the incident occurred on May 20, following a dispute among local children over water from a community tap. The altercation escalated, during which MD Taslim allegedly molested a young woman and rip up her clothes.
After the woman’s family lodged a written complaint, Taslim absconded. However, he was apprehended by the Siliguri Women Police Station on Thursday night, three days post-incident. On Friday, the accused was presented in Siliguri court. Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
