Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Shikha Chatterjee raises demand for NJP Division

Siliguri, 26th May: Following the examples set by Katihar and Alipurduar, NJP (New Jalpaiguri) might soon undergo division as well. Dabgram-Fulbari BJP MLA Shikha Chatterjee, recently raised this demand before the Chairman of the Railway Passenger Amenities Committee in Siliguri. The call for division has been a longstanding request from various railway workers’ unions.

NJP serves as a crucial hub for numerous passenger and goods trains, employing a significant number of railway personnel. Presently, employees often have to travel to Katihar for various tasks. Therefore, the proposed division of NJP is expected to bring substantial benefits, streamlining operations and improving efficiency.

Chairman PK Krishna Das, as part of his recent visit to several stations in Siliguri and Darjeeling, held discussions with officials at the ADRM (Additional Divisional Railway Manager) office located at NJP. During the meeting, MLA Shikha Chatterjee formally requested the establishment of a new division at NJP. She expressed her intention to submit a written demand to the Railways in the coming days.

Chairman PK Krishna Das assured that the matter would be reported to the Railway Board for further consideration. As part of his inspection, he evaluated the condition of various stations and assessed infrastructural issues for necessary improvements.
