Siliguri, 03rd September: Matigara Police have arrested stone crusher owner Bipul Roy for allegedly operating a crusher using a forged Forest Department No Objection Certificate (NOC). The action was taken based on a complaint lodged by the Forest Department.
According to the Forest Department, the Sukna Forest Department had inspected the stone crusher operated by M/s B.N. Roy Company on July 30. The unit was found operating within the eco-sensitive zone of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, following which the department sealed the crusher.
The Forest Department stated that an NOC bearing the name and purported signature of the DFO, Darjeeling Wildlife Division, had been produced for operating the crusher. During verification, the department found that no such NOC had been issued by the concerned office. It was also found that the officer whose name appeared on the document was not holding the said post on the date mentioned on the NOC.
