CM Mamata Banerjee announced increment in salaries of Bengal MLAs

News Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced an increase in the salaries of Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) in the state. Prior to Durga Puja, MLAs will see a substantial rise of Rs 40,000 in their salaries, bringing the total to Rs 1,21,000.


During the announcement, the Chief Minister emphasized that the salaries of Bengal’s ministers are currently the lowest among Indian states. In response to this, the state government has decided to boost the salaries of ministers and MLAs by Rs 40,000.

Under the previous government salary structure, MLAs received Rs 81,000 as their salary, including allowances. The new salary for MLAs will now be Rs 1,21,000. Meanwhile, ministers who were earning Rs 1,09,900 will now receive Rs 1,49,900. Full ministers, whose salary was Rs 1,10,000, will now be paid Rs 1.5 lakh.
