Siliguri, 26th October: A businessman in Siliguri has been arrested for selling banned firecrackers under the guise of running a grocery store. The NJP Police Station apprehended Vijay Saha, a resident of Thakurnagar, after receiving a tip-off.
Reportedly, on Friday evening, NJP Police laid a trap in Thakurnagar following the tip-off and caught the accused red-handed with the banned firecrackers he had brought on a bike for sale. Firecrackers worth approximately ₹30,000 were seized during the operation.
According to sources, the accused had previously been involved in selling prohibited firecrackers from behind his grocery store. The accused was presented in Jalpaiguri court on Saturday, and the police are currently investigating the incident further.
